Where do I leave electronics in Sweden?

Electronic waste contains both valuable materials and hazardous substances. In Sweden it is free to drop off electronics at recycling centres — the cost is included in the product price (producer responsibility).

What counts as electronic waste?

Anything with a cord, battery or plug counts as electronics: mobile phones, computers, TVs, headphones, toys with batteries, white goods, lamps and small household appliances.

Where do I leave small electronics?

Small electronics (smaller than a microwave) can be left at your municipal recycling centre or at many shops that sell electronics (they are required by law to accept them).

What do I do with old TVs and white goods?

Large electronic products are left at a recycling centre. Some municipalities offer bulky waste collection — contact your municipality for information.

Do I need to delete personal data before handing it in?

Yes, it is your responsibility to delete personal data from mobile phones, computers and hard drives before handing them in. Recycling facilities are not responsible for data.
